Water- Plain, Fruit infused, Flavor enhanced, Is it all the same?

Someone once told me, "If you add flavor (crystal light, flavoring) to your water, your body will not digest it the same as if it was plain ole water"

Has anyone ever heard that before? How much water intake is needed per day for a successful hydration?

Water is not my favorite thing to drink, but I know it is important to be successful. How much water do you drink per day? Do you add anything to it? And has it mattered if you did?

If you add some lemon slices to your water or any fruit, do you count that in your calories? Is that silly question?

Thanks to everyone who responds to my any questions. Without knowledge I can't be successful

It is all the same, just make sure you account for any calories from the additive, be it fruit or Crystal Light.

I drink a lot of seltzer I make with my SodaStream. The only thing I add is a few drops of extract to make it like flavored LaCroix and the extract adds no calories.

Water is the same, even the water from fruit and veggies or coffee and tea count as hydration. You just need to be aware if you are adding calories to the water so you can count them. I wouldn't worry about a lemon slice though.

Thank you! I always forget about seltzer.

I really vary it - I don't think a single slice of lemon (or cucumber) has enough calories to bother counting, personally. I keep 4 or 5 flavors of seltzer in my fridge for different moods. There are so many flavors out there! I also have about 10 kinds of tea. I need to add cream to my coffee, but I actually like tea black. If your dentist has said you have particularly soft teeth, you might have to limit seltzer a bit. Otherwise, it counts as weater

Your body actually pulls the water out of everything you consume, you get hydration from fruits, veggies, soups, etc too. Your goal is light colored pee. Different people will need different amounts based on size, activity level, and environment.

My SodaStream has paid for itself a few times over. I have a nice variety of extracts: lemon, orange, cranberry, grapefruit, blackcurrent, and one called "champagne" which does taste a bit like the wine (kind of white grapey, kind of citrusy).
