Vertigo and Excercise...

So recently, I have been having bouts of vertigo and dizziness and my doctor did various things to make sure it wasn't my heart or brain. Everything looks normal. But they think I have an inner ear disorder. And its really hard to work out during these bouts of vertigo. Sometimes it can last a whole day. I have been pushing through cardio, but it only aggravates the dizziness. I want to do cardio so I can lose this weight. Help.

Focus on your diet. That is the key to weight loss. Is it only intense cardio? Can you simply walk? How about some bodyweight resistance like squats or wall push-ups? Perhaps look up some seated cardio workouts. I would definitely, definitely talk to your doctor about what it is safe for you to do before doing anything, though.0

Well I have done some floor exercises, ab work outs, leg lifts and such. My doctor told me to just go slowly since there is nothing serious to worry about. And I went to another doctor that told me that cardio is the only way to burn fat. So its frustrating, because I am eating within my caloric limits and I'm hypothyroid so its harder to lose the weight.0

Had a bout with this vertigo problem this year. Luckily, mine was viral and did resolve within 2 weeks. It sounds like you should at least be working with an ENT, or ear specialist, there are specific exercises and maneuvers that can be done to help you with the vertigo. Working out when you are extremely dizzy sucks, I can relate. I hope you find resolution quickly.0

Cardio doesn't burn fat, it burns calories. Your body decides where those calories come from. It could be fat or it could be lean body mass. Doing resistance training helps you to hold on to LBM, cardio is great for your heart and lungs, and it can help you create a larger caloric deficit than just dieting. But, dieting alone can cause weight loss.0

Ok, in the meantime, try this: sit on your bed, with your feet on the floor. Lay down your upper body quickly, and turn your face in to the bed. Do it again laying the other way. What they are trying to do is teach your two balance equalizers to relearn how to balance. In my case, only one chamber was affected, so the other one picked up the slack. There are other exercises-google vertigo treatments.0 -

I tried that but for me it exaggerated my symptoms. Works for most, but not all. I learned from my ENT a similar but slower procedure, I am going to teach it to my hubby so he can help me on the harder days to put my "marbles" back in their little spot.0 -
I have had this issue in the past, and didn't want to take the meds prescribed because of the adverse reactions. The last bout I had I tried a homeopathic called Vertigoheel. It took 1 full day--but symptoms stopped!
