Exercise calories question

I wear a fitbit and have it linked to to mfp. When I add in exercise such as a workout video do I get those calories back as well plus whatever my steps are if those go up during? Not sure I'm phrasing this well.

When you enter a workout on MFP, it syncs over to Fitbit and replaces whatever calorie burn they came up with for that chunk of time.
I'd suggest the Fitbit side has better ability to estimate those calories then you selecting a database entry.
So don't add the workout to MFP despite it saying to, not required, and with sync issues it just increases the odds of having an issue because of the extra back and forth required.
So even without adding the workout - your Fitbit is giving you those calories back - unless you didn't wear it during the workout - or you know it's a workout that is badly estimated for calorie burn by means of steps or HR - like lifting or circuit training.
Read the FAQ, first section a couple times.
