The last pounds

Lately I've become very fixated on my waist size because I am very disappointed at where I am at. My midsection is the part of me I'm no where near being happy with yet but everything else I am. I thought once I reached a healthy bmi (145 lbs at 5'4") I would be below 30 inches but I am still 30 inches. I feel like this is so big and I'm worried these last 18 lbs might not make much of a difference. If you don't mind sharing, how many inches off your waist did you lose in the last 20 ish pounds? I know people lose weight differently but I would be interested to hear about others progress. Is it feasible to lose 3-5 inches with what I have left to lose?

I went from around 150@5'3.5" to 129 in 3 months and lost a lot around my waist. I basically lost from my chest and waist first, then everywhere, but the last little bit from the waist took the longest. Stick to your deficit, it will come off. It also depends on how you are shaped. If you're naturally more apple shaped, it may take longer than if you are hour glass or pear.

You can’t spot reduce fat. If you lose more weight, your body may or may not take it from your preferred location. For example, I lost cup sizes late in my weight loss. Not everyone would be happy with that result.

It really depends on genetics, how you lose weight, if you are maintaining muscle while you lose, etc. It also depends where you are measuring (natural waist vs. belly button area).

For example, for every 10-12lbs lost, on average I lose about 1.5-2 inches off the more narrow part and anywhere from 2-3" off around my belly button.
This was with adequate protein, progressive lifting and slow deficit.

    Your mileage will vary.

At the end of the day if you start to get close to goal and aren't seeing the results you want, you can transition to maintenance and recomp to work on body composition.

Yeah I am well aware of that unfortunate fact. When I was thin back before I hit my 20's I was more of a pear shape and I don't recall ever having issues with my waist size. I think the mere fact that I am closing in on my previous weight of 125 with so much more left to lose in my midsection its hard to believe all of it will come off with 18 lbs. I guess I should just be more patient and see what happens.
