Struggling with motivation

Hi All!

I am currently struggling with motivation to track/lose weight. I know that when I log everything it works. I weighed myself at the beginning of the year and was the heaviest weight I have ever been. Motivation kicked in and I started logging everything and then went on to start walking. Was feeling much better with being outside, which in turn was keeping me motivated to keep watching/counting my food intake.

Unfortunately I broke my foot the beginning of last week and I am going absolutely crazy in the house and am really struggling to stop myself eating through boredom. Being stuck inside and not outside walking is getting me a bit down. My dog has gone to my mums so she can keep her walking going so most days I find myself eating because I have nothing else to do.

Does anyone have any tips / things I can do / things that will help me?

Thank you!!

What do you like to do? I write, chat with people on the internet, color, play video games, but everyone is different.

Have you logged what you have eaten today? For me, motivation catches up after action happens. If I just start logging immediately (even if over calories) I find that within a few days my calories go down just by holding myself accountable.

Find a hobby that keeps your hands busy like crafting, crocheting, knitting, sewing, gaming, woodworking, cleaning, etc.

Jigsaw puzzle? Anything that will keep your hands busy. Play music too, so you're not inside your head, but maybe humming or singing along? Can you drive? If you can get to a public place that doesn't have food (library, I'm thinking). I'd be a mess. Boredom eating is so easy for me to fall into.

Thank you for the replies! I guess I'm sturggling because all of my usual things to do involve getting outside. I like to run 3x per week, I walk the dog twice a day and on days I don't run at least an hour. In addition, I have a horse, so most of my activities are outdoors. By the time I've done all of that and had some dinner I generally watch an episode of something and that's it :)

Unfortunately I can't drive, but have friends visiting when they can.

I like the idea of jigsaws and I might get back to my childhood days and get the lego out. I have a few Harry Potter sets, but never built them. Maybe now is the time! I might order some colouring books and have a go at that too.

I am trying to log everything I eat. Yesterday was perfect. I guess I'm the type of person that has to do things right, so if I go way over I think... oh just forget it and start again tomorrow. I pledge to log everything.
