Hi all. My name is David, and I'm a 60 yr old male living on Maryland's Eastern Shore. My goal is to lose at least 100 lbs as soon as is safely possible. I've been dealing with type 2 Diabetes since '03 and and liver Cirrhosis since '12. My main goal is to delay the onset of complications from these 2 conditions as long as possible. I can't stop them (too late for that) but losing weight is the best thing I can do for myself - especially when it comes to the Cirrhosis. The actual cause of it IS morbid obesity in my case.

  • Start walking. Routine longs walks (ideally of a couple miles or more per day, but work up to longer distances if you need to) will have a disproportionately positive impact on your overall health. That's the "move more" part. The "eat less" part is self evident. I found when I started that just switching to drinking only water knocked a whole lot of calories out of my intake. Finally, start logging calories to get in the habit of doing it accurately.

These are all things you can start doing now.
