went over poly and mono fats today..

I’m still within my caloric intake, but I just feel a bit anxious and guilty that I went over. Is this okay to do sometimes, I should also explain that I am new to the whole counting cals thing. A lot of people are telling me that macros don’t count as much as actual caloric intake, I’m just a bit worried about today is all.

Yes calorie counting is whats most important. Macros can be helpful in certain situations, but for weight loss, it's really about the calorie. You're almost always going to be over at least one macro if you eat close to your goal (and you need to be always eating at or close to your goal). Fat is no different than any other macro. Mono and polyunsaturated fats are healthier fats that have a lot of nutritional benefits.

Not only that, but it's okay, and even advisable, to go over your calorie goal sometimes. It's not a calorie ceiling. If you are under every single day, you could not be eating enough. It's normal to be over some days and under other days. You just don't want to be consistently over every day.

Yeah, listen to them. If you're narrowing it down to the poly's and the mono's, perhaps you shouldn't even track macros for right now and get that food anxiety under check.

But otherwise, those are what most fat is made up of (the others being saturated and trans fats), and usually people treat those as minimums, not maximums.
