Where would I measure hips to figure BF%

Odd question that has puzzled me for awhile. When you measure hips to figure out BF% it says to measure the widest part. Well the widest part on me is basically in like a saddlebag area. Only problem with the measurement is that I have a thigh gap where I am measuring, so while I am measuring I am taking into account an area of air. Its not huge but could possibly be up to an inch or two of the measurement. So do I just use that measurement anyways? Its not a huge problem but gives me a 2% difference in BF% and a 3lb difference in LBM. I am currently 6'0" and 160lbs.
