How Much Water do you drink Daily?

I have heard different things on how much water you should drink daily. I am trying to stick to the half your body weight in ounces technique. That is ALOT of water! I seem to fall short of that goal every day, however, I am getting in at least 64 ounces a day. Thoughts?

As long as your urine is light colored, you're fine. I don't count, but I drink water, diet soda, coffee, tea, and sometimes herbal tea every day, plus I eat soup often. Plus there's water in a lot of other foods, like fruit and veggies. It all contributes, your body takes the water out of all of it. :drinker:6

I don't really count. I'd say I drink somewhere between 64-90 oz a day, depending on the day. That feels sufficient for me, even though it is not half my body weight, or 100 oz, or a gallon, or whatever else is going around as the "what you should do" these days.
One thing I find that helps me drink more water is a good hot sauce. I love putting hot sauce on my food. It can spice up bland food like plain chicken or fish and make it taste good without adding any calories. And it has the added benefit of causing me to drink more water. I usually drink a liter at any meal I use hot sauce with.1 -
64oz for me..1

I drink mostly tea. I have some hot tea and some iced tea, either unsweetened or with a little bit of Splenda. I drink very little plain water, but I almost always have some tea.
There isn't much truth to blanket statements about how much water you "should" drink, because you also get water from other beverages and from foods, and because your individual hydration level depends on variables like how much you're sweating.
Drink when you're thirsty, and keep an eye on your urine color. It should be light yellow, other than first thing in the morning when it's typically darker. If it's dark later in the day, try to drink more.1 -
I have no idea. I only really care if I am dehydrated, sweating more than usual, or sick in a way that dehydration is very likely going to happen. My urine is almost always mostly clear.1

At least 78oz (my water bottle is 26oz and I drink 3 of them minimum). When its warmer I drink more.2

I don't count so I have no idea. I drink water with all my meals and in between too. I also have two cups of coffee a day, soups for lunch, salads, fruit and vegetables with a good water content, and sometimes green tea. As long as my pee is light colored I know that I am hydrated. I am a very petite person so I don't need a lot of water to meet the "1/2 body weight requirement."

There is no magical amount of water to drink. What's important is keeping hydrated and fluids consumed to remain hydrated are going to vary according to any number of factors. The color of your urine is a good indicator of hydrate. Also keep in mind that you can over hydrate and flush out important electrolytes.
I live in the desert a mile high above sea level and I'm pretty active. I will need to consume more fluids to remain hydrated than someone who is more or less sedentary living at sea level in a temperate climate. I will need to consume more fluids in the summer than in winter to stay hydrated due to more perspiration, etc. I will need to consume more fluids on very active days vs more sedentary days to remain hydrated. Etc, etc, etc...2 -
I drink a ton of coffee (newborn in the house)
1-2 Diet pops
And about 90 oz of water a day.

A lot. Depends how how it is and if I've been sweating a lot. Basically when I'm thirsty.3

Around 2 litres1

No clue, I don't track it because it's kind of an arbitrary exercise. I get fluids from everything I drink and eat and it all counts.0

It used to be about 64-70 oz. I've had to increase it some b/c I've been put on a medicine that causes me to hold onto salt, which for me is important, but it causes swelling if I don't stay hydrated enough.0

I try for 64oz of plain water. I also drink coffee and protein drinks and sometimes a glass of wine or a bottle of beer. I only count the plain water. I don't always make 64oz/day, but I try.1

Just short of 128 Oz plus 2 large cups of black coffee2

I have no clue. I drink water, tea, Powerade zero, and sometimes a diet soda. If my urine is light then I'm not concerned about the amount.

Typically not much. I do drink coffee and other liquid substances that contain water.1

I log my water and usually it's 3 - 3.5 litres a day.1

I drink some water every day, but I have no idea how much. I also drink coffee, tea, gatorade and diet dr. pepper and sometimes beer, wine or vodka. I also eat lots of hydrating fruits and vegetables and sometimes soups etc. As long as you stay hydrated there really is no reason to force yourself to drink a specific amount of water.3

It varies by my need from day to day as my thirst reflex works fine.
The only time a set formula makes sense would be in a hospital setting and a climate and temperature controlled environment.
Unless you actually have a problem with hydration levels it seems pointless to set goals or track quantities.3 -
Tons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I try to get at least 64 ounces everyday.1
-
Average 60-70oz a day1
-
56 to 72 ounces on average.1
-
I drink about a gallon a day. I don't usually drink anything other than water, unless I have wine with dinner.1
-
I cap at 100oz because I don’t feel any need to go higher than that.1
