If you google 'low carb bread' you'll find some online sources. But you might want to read http://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb-bread-another-fairy-tale-bites-the-dust before you order any. You might want to try grilling your cheese on something other than bread.

One carb? Impossible. There are some acceptable lower carb breads...but no where near that low. (Don't even bother with the Atkins brand low carb bread...it is horrible)

Listen, I hate to be the one to break it to you, but if you're going to be successful at a low carb diet, you need to learn to eat low carb foods. Like actual low carb foods. If you can't get over wanting a delicious grilled cheese long term, low carb may not be the right diet choice for you. You can be successful at meeting all your goals with a well rounded diet with an appropriate calorie deficit. There is nothing that a low carb diet can accomplish that a balanced diet can't. They're different routes to the same prize. But, whatever you choose HAS to be something you can live with long term or it will never be long term successful.

If you can't make this change something sustainable long term, you might want to rethink your strategy. You "don't" have to go low carb if you don't want to. Weight loss is done by eating at a calorie deficit.

If this is due to a medical condition or being recommended by a registered dietitian (not nutritionist)...then perhaps you need to go back and talk to them. The last thing you should be doing is cultivating a bad relationship with food to the extent you drive yourself crazy trying to find 1g carb bread.

    ** That.

Otherwise you might look and see if anyone makes a microtome for slicing bread.

Mahler's bakery (mahlersbakery.com) makes bread with one NET carb per slice. My sister can get it at the commissary on base, although I've only seen it at one farmer's market besides that. It's decent tasting. She's diabetic, and eats it frequently. I'm not quite as convinced...I'd rather fit a regular slice or two into my diet every now and then.

    Edited to fix website name

I agree. I like low carb because I feel independent from food to a degree. I can skip lunch without my stomach protesting. I was never really big on carbs, never craved cookies or cake or bread, so low carb works well for me because I just eat more of the foods I really enjoy, which happen to be mostly fat and protein. Some people, like those with certain metabolic disorders, find that it is more useful for weight loss than a standard diet. I suggest you fill up on food you enjoy rather than attempt to recreate old favorites with foul-tasting frankenfood.

I make my own bread. In a toaster oven. Nothing fancy.

Try making raw bread, it's yummy and good for you! Even if you don't have a dehydrator, there are tons of other ways. :)

I haven't tried it, but i heard that P28 bread is good.

    12 g carbs, 13g protein, 130 cals per slice.

It sounds really awesome. I would totally eat it if it were gluten free.

just read this info on the site... wild!! Always did wonder how much truth to low/no carb items such as dreamfields, breads etc. there really was.

I eat sprouted bread... like 10-15 carbs per slice.. I can't imagine eating lower, doesn't it taste yuck? I get sprouted from Trader Joe's and sometimes I get the Ezekiel brand.

I agree with the member who shared they'd rather enjoy a piece or two of regular tasting bread than low carb the nasty type. For myself if I cut back on carbs etc. by using 'diet' replacements it only kicks in that diet mentality which I try to steer clear of.

Are you very very limited on carbs for medical reasons or you simply eat very low carb for other reasons? I'm always curious when I hear members talk about low low carbs.. I don't mean it rudely, I just am curious why some eat so low. I know it's been shared that some have to do it for medical reasons but being T2 I do have to have good healthy carbs, enough so I don't get low.

But if that's still not good enough... you could try two putting cheese between two portobello mushrooms and grill that? That actually sounds really yummy to me... i want one now. With a side of ketchup for dipping please.

Might still be too much carbs though... you'd have to slice the mushrooms cause i think they are around 3 carbs per mushroom cap.

    Good luck :)

I don't want to live in a world where people are slicing portobellos in half to avoid the carbs.

I don't want to live in a world where that would be considered a grilled cheese sandwich. Now slice up some Portobello to include in the grilled cheese sandwich...that I'd be all over in a heartbeat.
