I have been eating right- the right amount of food the right type of food the right number of calories- i have been working out.

between the calorie deficit the mfp set, and working out i should have lost two pounds AT least in the last 2 weeks, instead i've gained 2lbs, pretty much overnight!!!!

this is just miserable!!! absolutely miserable. I know muscle weighs more than fat, i don't feel my cloths getting loser i just feel absolutely miserable.

Muscle weighs more then fat......its true. But if you are anything like me you hate to hear it! lol. It will be ok. At least you are at the place where you notice and can do something about it. I know not the advice I would want to hear.

However, do not get discouraged get encouraged. You can do this and those two pounds will be gone in no time!

What sort of exercise are you doing, watch the calories are not being overestimated.

You really shouldn't fret about it! You're weight gain can be attributed to SO many things, none of which I doubt are actual weight gain. You're probably retaining water if you've eaten something high in sodium or high in fibre, or if you've been exercising alot you're muscles tend to retain water too. I'd start taking progress pictures and measurements to keep track because it's an easier measure of progress than a scale.

Sometimes success does NOT translate into a stupid number on the scale, but a measurement or a difference seen in a progress picture. And if you don't see a difference right away, I wouldn't worry about that either. You're body tends to eat away at visceral fat first (internal fat) and then makes it's way outward. Just keep at it! Rome wasn't build in day (or measured by a scale,).

    Keep at it! :D

Im with ya, same is happening to me. im not going to let it defeat me. I think for me is stress, I wanted to lose another 10lbs before my high school reunion and its next week. No weight loss for two weeks and its seem as if I gained two pounds back. I need a vacation!

Is the calorie limit set right? I assume everyone's metabolic rate will vary so perhaps you need to tinker with your actual allowance?

Don't cry or get down - you ARE moving in the right direction - you really are - but as I see it, it is a very delicate balance between calories in and calories out and until you get the delicate balance sorted - it can be frustrating. I know because I went through a very similar start to my weight loss plan. That was mid Feb 2010 and here we are mid July and I'm 40 pounds down - so I KNOW you can do this and once you tweak what you're doing it will start to drop off.

    Keep your chin up.

Hi Sassy, hang on in there. You have been eating well and exercising - keep doing that and the scales and tape measure will start to co-operate. You might have gained 2 pounds of water overnight but unless you had the mother of all binges you have NOT gained 2 pounds of fat overnight. Don't belittle what you have achieved already because if you gained those 4 pounds back you would most likely be even unhappier. You asked everyone to check out your diary a few days ago and you got some handy suggestions, try following them for a while and see if they make a difference in a couple of weeks. None of us got overweight in 4 weeks so it's unlikely we will reach our goals in 4 weeks. You know I was feeling just as bad about my plateau a few days ago but I'm now excited about ploughing on! We can do this together girl, chin up!

P.S if the scales depress you how about only weighing in every 7-10 days?

I do a myriad of thing- I run on the elliptical, I do home video work outs, I do crossfit,

I never under estimate my intake calories and my work out calories are based on my hrm. The only fesible thing I can see on changing is my water intake,

Feel free to look at my logs work out/food provide any pointers- i will say i do eat lean cusine for lunch mon-fri its easier cause I work all day and have to bring my lunch

    This is just absolutely miserable.

I completely understand. I was in the same place needing the encouragement a week ago. Sometimes you are building muscle and it does weigh more. Some people have a slower metabolism rate and it takes a while for it to really kick in. I'm one of those people. I know it takes about 6 weeks for me to really start losing more than just water weight, (and that could be your extra weight) but it is so discouraging to work that long and not see or feel the results. Keep going though. I know just being able to do more exercise without feeling like I'm going to keel over has kept me going. According to the daily report on MFP I should have lost 10 more pounds than what I have by now, but it is starting to slowly come off and my clothes are feeling a wee bit looser.

Being a woman I have to ask, are you near your time of the month? I know for me I can see my weight not change or (horror) go up by a couple of pounds the week before and during. So don't stress out about it, stay the course and see what happens. For me once it is over I drop the extra pounds (and usually one or two more). Keep at it and I know you will see results!

Don't cry. It is too hard to keep hydrated.

Our bodies are mysterious things and sometimes are stupid and slow. You could be simply retaining water. (How's your sodium level? I'm having huge problems keeping mine under the 2500mgs)

Or perhaps you haven't as my kids used to refer to it "haven't gone boom boom" yet.

I personally have decided to only "officially" weigh myself every other Saturday. I do jump on the scale during the week and notice shifts of up to 5 pounds.

And loads of people here have talked about if you don't eat enough of your "exercise" calories, that one's body gets annoying and tries to keep the weight on.

So I encourage you to keep eating healthy and working out. And try different things to mix it up. But please don't quit.

I use to be able to know excatly when TOM was coming but they found out a couple of month ago i have an iorn deficinny, so they put me on an IUD that almost stops TOM all together, cept for me he just kind of random visits- lightly very lightly its kind of annoying actually

I think it may be your water intake. I work out 5-6 days a week and drink 3 liters of water a day. If you are only drinking 8 glasses a day, then you should increase by 2-4 glasses on days you work out, because you sweat a lot of water out too. Also, if your sodium intake is above1600 mg a day, then you need more water to flush it out so you don't bloat.

First off- you are 4 pounds down that is awesome! I believe that even with the IUD your body will still have the TOM symptoms minus the blood. So you can still get bloated and stuff. Do you drink any form of pop (soda)? I noticed that even if I consume a diet soda the sodium in it causes me to gain from water retention. Best of luck on your journey! We are all here for you especially in your miserable times!

sorry about that hun, maybe you should try the HCG diet. i have had great success with it! and i will be honest with you i feel convicted to tell everyone about it. i don't get paid for this information, so pretty much its just straight conviction. i have struggled to get my baby weight off for eleven years! this is the only diet that has EVER worked for me. you loose a pound a day! and the inches come off like you wouldn't believe. please try it, you wont be disappointed! feel free to email me with any questions you may have.God Bless

I TOTALLY agree with Sweetn3ss! Your body needs to slough off the lining of your uterus every month and with the IUD, it may be stopping that, but where is it going? It's staying in your body. At some point it will all have to even out, but until then, keep on doing what you are doing. You will notice a difference, and keep drinking the water! Good luck to you and just know that we are all here for you! (We will need YOU sometime, too!) :drinker:

    Jamie,

I don't drink soda or anything like that the closest thing to that is crystal light or diet green tea but the diet green tea is few and far between, my problem is simply not drinking. period. I wish i could mindlessly drink the way i use to mindlessly eat.
I'm sure my body still goes through the TOM symptoms is just harder for me to notice. I just have to hang in, I know the loss will come, its just a matter of when, but if i don't give up, my body will have to give in!! Its frustrating....and hard...but I can do it. Thanks to everyone for all of their support.
