Hi. My name is Micah. I am 21. And I am about to be really transparent so if that bothers you, please just click away. No judgment only. :)

I am trying to lose about 30 pounds. I am more curvy than fat, but I would like to get to a healthier weight and be able to fit my smaller clothes.

As a young teen, I struggled with poor eating habits such as binging/purging and starving myself for weeks at a time. Soon after that, I became addicted to drugs. I would barley eat at all. I am now in recovery and 6+ months sober.

Since starting my recovery, I have been eating a lot of junk food. I use the excuse that since I am not on drugs, it is okay for me to eat badly. That worked at first, but I am getting to the point now where the weight gain is a trigger for me and it makes me want to use.

I am going to put my energy into being healthy instead of self destruction. I find it very hard to quit sugar. It is as if I traded my drug addiction for a food addiction. Thankfully I have not taken up binging again, but I do need to start eating less junk. I am going to also start working out again.

I would love to talk with anyone who has struggled with similar issues and wants to support each other. It is really important that I get my fitness in order because I think it will help me to continue to stay sober.

It's a huge step to recognize that just trading one vice for another isn't really solving the problem. Good job making the choice to make real change Micah! I don't deal with the same issues, but I think to some degree we all struggle with different manifestations of our own insecurities. You'll be an amazing force when you find your inner confidence and believe in yourself. Let the change begin!
