What Can I Steam?

I bought a lunchbox that cooks your lunch. Basically a tiny steamer. I've been using it to make delicious steamed broccoli or green beans with garlic and lemon, but I'm getting a little... bored. :/

I'm also a terrible cook and I know nothing about vegetables because I never eat them (am trying to change). What veggies are yummy steamed. That also aren't all the money. I love asparagus but cannot afford.

Hot steam will cook any vegetable. It just depends on your preferences:

    Cabbage
    Carrots
Root veggies (sweet potato, white potato, beets, etc...)
    Cauliflower
    Peppers
    Onions
    Squash
    Mushrooms

I would also steam other foods:
    Fish & shellfish
    Chicken or turkey
    Sausages
    Asian dumplings or buns
    Grains - couscous, quinoa, barley
    Cakes and puddings

Change it up with the seasonings. Lemon pepper, truffle salt, smoked salt. If I had a mini steamer I would use it for dim sums from the deep freeze section of the Asian supermarket such as har gau.

Annnd now I really want to steam fish - maybe wrapped in banana leaf...I guess I know what grocery stores I'm going to this weekend.
