I did just under a mile walk today, and I had to keep pausing every so often near the end as my calves were KILLING me. I also have a bad knee. Yep, just under a mile was hard...

Have you got any ideas on excercise I can do that doesn't need to involve the gym? And won't stress my poor calves and knees. Note I'm over 200lb, so jogging's out. And can't afford the pool. :/

I'm also sweating a lot randomly? Could this be due to my diet change?

As for your calves. Stretch before you start. Try runner's stretches, squats. No bouncing, just stretch for 15-20 seconds, do the other leg, repeat.

The knees, I don't know what is causing the pain, so I don't want to give medical advice. Might be something you need to check with your doctor on. Swimming would have been my first suggestion, though. Do you have a friend with a pool? A free community pool?

I'll try squats. :) *goes to look up the way to do squats*

I'm in the UK, so an outdoor pool here is unusual! And can't afford the local pool...

    ice, ice baby!
    no seriously... ICE THEM!

    do u take glucosamine???
    u should consider it.

stretch before and after ur walks. and keep walking! its great and it doesnt stress ur knee THAT much.
IMO, the more u walk, the more u strengthen ur muscles around ur knee. they are there to help the knee join stay in tact and the muscles pull on the bones so that there is no bone-to-bone friction. so it might be hurting NOW, but as u strengthen ur legs, the pain wont be so much.
and seriously consider buying some glucosamine! it rocks!

Basically I have a sore knee from a cycle crash the other week - I suspect my knees aren't happy with my weight! Also I have size 3 feet, so I suspect I'm putting a LOT of pressure on my legs and feet...
