CALORIE/MACRO ADJUSTMENT W/ WORKOUT ENTRY

Hey Everyone... Wondering about your thoughts on this. I just noticed that when I log any type of exercise entry it credits me back calories for the day which also affects my remaining macros. I'm trying to stick with my initial macro goal so this kinda deters my "zero" out potential; unless I eat more than my preferred macros that day based on my exercise credit telling me to feed my face more. Am I reading too much into this? Or does anyone have any thought or suggestions that are in the same situation?

    The way MFP is set up, the calorie goal is based on the assumption that you are not exercising. If you then exercise, you should eat back calories or else risk that the deficit will be too high for good health (especially if you start with an aggressive calorie goal, like 1200 or a goal for a 2 lb loss).

    What you can do if your amount of exercise is pretty consistent is set your calorie goal and macros based on the calories appropriate to that amount, and then log the exercise as 0 calories.

    If you are fine eating different amounts of calories per day, but are simply bothered by specific macros increasing (carbs, if you are cutting carbs, or protein, if you find the higher goal difficult to reach), you could just have target grams for one or two macros (just remember them) and ignore the other. But since the macros add up to the calories, there is no way to add calories and not have it affect the total gram amounts of the macros -- you'd have to eat more of at least one macro.

    It does. Yes. I'm going to address this with the Team I worked with on my last challenge. I wasn't logging exercise then and was zeroing out my initial macros w/o making up the "credit". This may be why I didn't have the results I could have as I would assume their macro calculations would take into count the exercise you do? Gives me more to think about. Thanks
