Hey all,
I have had issues shopping/dressing for my body my whole life. Recently, I put on some weight and grew out of several of my summer work clothes and now I'll be starting a new job in a couple of weeks. I have a box of clothes I hope to fot back into in the next few months but in the need time, I need a couple of pieces to help me make a good firsg impression. Just got back from shopping and felt totally disheartened by how things fit me... my first instinct is always to blame my body, but then I see these gorgeous plus sized women on these fabulous outfits. I'm 4'11" and I'm currently sitting at about 156 lbs.
I usually have a hard time finding things that fit me in the plus size section although I love the styles. On the other hand, I also have a really hard time finding things that flatter my body in the standard sizes...
One of my "goal rewards" when I hit my weight loss goal is to get on stitch fix but for now I just want so badly to find a few things to help me get my confidence up for this new job.
Any tips at all regarding styles, fabrics, places to shop, etc would be very much appreciated!!

Do you shop petite sizes? That might really help. I have a friend who is around 5'2" and probably a similar weight/height ratio to you and she wears mostly L/XL petite stuff and looks fantastic. She isn't super curvy but does have a large bust.
I am sorry that I'm not more helpful but at 5'8" I don't have similar fit issues. I do think a lot of curvy girls (you and me both) can benefit from wearing tops that are not too long and hide our curves. I like blouses/sweaters that hit me right at the top of my hip. I look much thinner & like I have a better overall shape when I wear things like that instead of long tunics...just an example! Good luck to you.2 -
I'm short (5'0") and curvy. Dont try to wear billowy tops or clothes because they are overwhelming and make us look huge at our height. Wear form fitting/fitted but not tight clothing. It has to show your shape in a flattering way. Also, no to flared pants. Straight leg or skinny is best even if you're not skinny, as long as the size is right. And like anyone, show off the features you like and draw attention away from ones you don't. That's my take on it.2

I’m not that short but my body type is curvy
And I have a hard time with things too
But if you take your measurements it makes everything so much easier specially if shopping online
I tend to stay away from fabric that clings to you cause it shows all the lumps
Go more for flowy light fabrics
Anything cinched right below the bust is good to elongate your torso! Also brings your curves out I think
For jeans I have a hard time finding jeans short enough for me so go for petite or short inseam
Doesn’t make you look like your swimming in your pants.
I really got into Zulily.com they have a lot of options just make sure to look at the sizing chart
ASOS.com and boohoo.com
Are my go too places...
good luck!
