Low carb?

I love pasta and bread but I’ve been seeing so many posts about going low carb and people noticing results rapidly. What do you all think about low carb? I really want to lose weight but aghh so many myths about different diets.

If you want to lose water quickly then it's a great diet. Otherwise, a calorie deficit is all you need to lose weight.8 -
Fat loss is the same for low carb vs other diets. Find a diet that aligns to your fitness goals and eating patterns.
I lost 50 lbs and have kept it off for 9 years eating 250-350g of carbs.8 -
I've dropped 108lbs on moderate to slightly high carb. (I never tinkered with the MFP defaults and I'm typically right around 50% carbs or slightly over).
Nothing magical about it. If eating fewer carbs makes you feel fuller for the calories, go for it. In my case, I do better on protein and high-fiber carbs. Plus I'm vegetarian so, like the old Reese's Peanut Butter Cup commercials, "Hey! There are carbs in my protein. Hey! There's protein in my carbs! Two great macros that taste great together..."0 -
I ate low carb and lost 30 pounds fast within 3 months. I was very happy with it. A lady at my gym ate 100 gr or less of carbs a day and lost 160 pounds so I thought if she could do that I could certainly lose 20-30 lbs. Yes giving up bread and fruits was very hard, don't get much of that. Now my weight is down I am eating all in moderation. If it goes up I will definitely go back to LC2

People who eat low carb often drop water weight quickly, because glycogen (glucose from carbs) is stored with additional water in the body. So cutting out carbs will reduce your water weight quickly, and lead to a lot of smiles during your first weigh ins. The thing is that that's not the same thing as fat. Going lower carb doesn't lose fat any quicker than a higher carb diet at the same calorie level. So while the water weight loss is nice for the scale number, it doesn't really have any benefits, and it is a temporary illusion, because as soon as you up your carb intake (unless you want to eat low carb your entire life), you are going to regain that water weight you lost.1

Yes
How much weight do you want to lose total?0 -
Around 50 lbs.0

Don't go low carb or your butt will deflate like a burst balloon!!
Seriously, just find a way of eating less calories than you usually do, and which you feel you can stick with for the amount of time it will take to lose the excess weight and beyond. If you go back to the way you used to eat afterwards, you'll end up looking the way you used to look.
So find something that's not challenging and doesn't make you feel deprived. If you love bread and pasta, then low carb is not for you in the longer term.2
