Photo guidelines

Since I don't want to break any rules I just wanted to make sure by asking here. The photo guidelines mention and I quote from another post:
- no underwear, thongs, g-strings, or banana hammocks

So, no photos in our underwear. However, people very, very frequently post photos of themselves in bikini/swimwear. I just want to make sure that this is considered according to the guidelines.

I also find it a bit strange if it is, but that's not for me to decide, lol. I'd just accept underwear photos then too. I mean, who has the time to change into their bikini just to take progress photo that are acceptable online, when underwear covers just as much skin?

Anywho, are bikini/swimwear photos accepted according to guidelines?

I have to say I agree there's not much difference between underwear and bikini photos ...but its likely a jailable offence according to the rules and the mods... because I've not posted such photos (and wont be), I can't say for sure what happens.

I see a LOT of underwear photos on here, too.

Tons of underwear photos on here. I see nothing wrong with them as long as the underwear is not see-through and provides full coverage. I think MFP’s intent was to discourage thongs, “banana hammocks” and other NSFW photos.

Also keep in mind, unless people report them, the mods won't often know. So just because you see them, doesn't mean they aren't a violation.

heheh. Now you're asking for it.

I try not to be judgmental and understand that many people are proud of what they have accomplished. I haven't even noticed the underwear except a few times. What I do notice is when people are wearing gym shorts and they pull them down so far they are about to fall out. Oh well...I guess that is the area that they are the most proud of.

I think on a fitness site that we have to come to expect it. I remember a post from a few years back that there were several that were upset about it. Some defended their pictures by saying that they were just trying to be an example to others on what they could accomplish if they just kept working. Some truth in that I suppose.

Lots of before and after underwear photos on here. Doesn't offend nor titillate me!
Some I would like to delete them out of my memory bank though :s

Also, what about sports bras? Bras are underwear, but sports bras are often worn to work out in without a shirt...so I guess they would be okay to wear in public....

"4. Keep it Classy (we mean your images)

    I WILL:

I will share my success photos and progress photos.

I will keep it classy by wearing tight-fitting spandex instead of my undies to show my progress.

I will post authentic photos that I have permission to use.

I will be mindful that this is a workplace friendly site. If you wouldn’t share the image with your boss or your child, please don’t post it here.

    I WON'T:

I won’t post hateful, violent or graphic imagery.

I won’t post nudity, pornography, or NSFW images.

I won’t post images containing profanity.

    I won’t post political images.

I won’t post photos containing excessive cleavage (if you would wear it to work, it’s probably OK).

I won’t post close-up shots of cleavage, butt, breasts or crotch in any state of dress.

I won’t post photos in which hands or objects are the only bodily covering,

I won’t post photos in my undies (underwear, bras, lingerie, thongs, g-strings, or banana hammocks)."

Apparently if you want to have pictures showing your underwear, it is implied they must have an underarmour logo

These are just a modified version of the original guidelines from over a decade ago. Well before UA was a part of the picture.

Underwear can be lace, see through, etc. can be much different than a bikini. But as long as the underwear or bikini are covering and not showing anything inappropriate than I don’t see a problem

I'm still not sure if sports bras are underwear (not allowed) or "tight-fitting spandex" (allowed).

I guess I'll just go by "If I'd walk across the gym or beach in it" guideline for sports bras.

If I felt that way about photos that violated the guidelines I'd report them.
