Hunger

I’ve only been using MFP for 10 days. My calorie allowance is (obviously) a good deal lower than what I’m used to eating and so I get pretty hungry. I’ve also started going on walks and afterwards I get even hungrier. I also find that after exercising, when I get hungrier, it’s harder to stay within the calorie Allowance. Last night I made myself do a short workout to make up for the excess calories. I went to bed exhausted. Woke up in the morning and didn’t feel rested. Got tired pretty quickly but still went on a 3 mile walk. And became exhausted and hungry. I’m now over my calorie allowance by 25. But, I’m still eating much less than I was before starting MFP. I’m hoping things start to level out at some point to where I’m not hungry and tired all the time.

First, please don't get into the habit of punishing yourself for consuming excess calories. It's a horrible habit. Second, eat a portion of your exercise calories back. MFP is designed for you to do that. Third, check your food and your deficit. Constant hunger can mean you're running too steep of a deficit, or not enough of a particular macro that'll help you stay satisfied. Weight loss doesn't have to be miserable. Constant genuine hunger means you need to make some tweaks somewhere.

And don't sweat being over your calorie allowance by such a low number. If you're going by MFP's number, that's already including a deficit. All it means is you ate into your daily deficit by 25cal. Likely won't even notice an effect from it.

Drink water to curb some of the hunger pains. Also look into what's in your food. High fiber foods help you feel fuller. You can eat more low calorie veggies to fill your stomach.

what is your selected rate of loss? if you are feeling that badly I HIGHLY recommend reducing it to start. better to go slow at first and feel confident and strong VS try to go to hard and feel terribly and be unlikely to keep it up. weight loss is a long journey, a marathon. you need to be ready for the long road.

EAT YOUR EXERCISE CALORIES. MFP is built for you to EAT THE EXERCISE CALORIES BACK.

25 calories over is peanuts. honestly don't worry about that, we can't be right on the button daily. it's expected you are a few cals over and over from day to day.

I'm starting tracking my calories, man no wonder I am overweight.. I am starting exercise next week and the hunger thing sounds pretty depressing / scarry / frustrating. I hope you get leveled out so you can exercise and not be exhausted and hungry, you sound strong and like someone who can do it. Cheers

You can avoid the hunger thing by keeping a manageable deficit and eating foods that are filling.
