I’m looking for friends to keep encouraging me, I’d like to be more consistent with my workout. I also need to get chocolate out of my life but haven’t managed how to do that... friend me if you’d like to encourage each other to keep going on fitness journey

Hi :) Why get chocolate out? Just go dark chocolate at 75% to 80% :) and give yourself a daily "budget" :)

You don't need motivation, you need to develop the routine and habit of working out. You also don't need to ditch chocolate, just work it into your calories if you can control it.

I buy dark chocolate bars at World Market and make sure at least 80 calories a day are chocolate for me! I have been consistent with this and still lost 20 lb!

I agree that motivation is less important than a habit. When I don't let myself think about whether or not I'm going to work out, I tend to work out much more consistently. For many years, that meant rolling out of bed and onto the street to jog before I was fully awake. Once you are out the door, most of the battle is won. Now it means wearing pieces of my workout clothes as part of my daily attire so I'm "practically dressed" (um, no, but the delusion works for me) when I get home. I also make myself go straight to changing and getting out the door without letting myself debate. I never think about "why," it just IS what I am going to do. Yes, I know I will feel so much better for doing it--but that has NEVER motivated me to get out the door, b/c the immediate benefit of flopping into a chair and putting up my feet, or taking a nap (mmmmmmmm) is so much more appealing in the moment.

Some people find it really helps to have a workout partner, and if that works for you, go for it. I have never wanted to workout with anyone else--ever. Be open to looking for another way to be consistent if having workout buddies doesn't help. There really are so many different ways to go about it and finding what works for you is absolutely the most important part. Good luck, and have fun.

I suggest just have some dark chocolate in moderation and skip the gym and just get outside. Since I quit going to the gym I enjoy working out a lot more. I am able to get my workout in and include my wife and kids. Go mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, antler shed hunting, clam digging, anything that gets you outside and moving. Pick new places every time you go to keep it interesting. It will make working out a adventure. If you live in the Pac NW we are always taking people on new adventures with us.
