IMHO the best way to stop yo-yo ing is to lose weight at a slower pace and really learn as you go. The key is to find a way of eating and an activity level that is satiating, practical, and enjoyable that will make it easy to eat the right amount of calories for the rest of your life.

The path to success is not to look for the magic pill diet. Start by eating a healthy balanced diet, cutting out or severely limiting the foods that brought you to where you are today. You must be honest with yourself on that front and know if you have the willpower to be a true moderator of junk food items, or if you have none like myself you simply have to abstain from those choices. There are many people on here who are successful moderators, but I feel the fast majority of us would be more sucessful in abstaining at least in the first 3-4 months.
Remember that habits take a while to form, the first three months are the toughest, but if you can get through those first three months, you can go along way towards forming new habits and retraining you taste buds to crave new foods, and not the sugary/salty items that we all have a weakness for.0
