Can someone tell me why I’m losing inches but not weight? I’m not exercising. I lost 4lb on my first week. Today is my weigh in and I’m still the same weight as week one. But since last Sunday to this Saturday I’ve lost a good amount of inches. Just feeling really frustrated with my weight not budging x

What are your stats?
height, starting weight, current weight, goal weight?
you have been trying for four FULL weeks now?
how are you measuring and logging your food?
Have you added/increased new exercise?0 -
I’m 5’5. I started off at 12stone 4lb and lost 4lb after my first week. So I’ve stayed at 12stone for 3 weeks now. I’ve been trying for 4 full weeks. No cheat days. Goal weight is 10stone 7lb. I’ve set myself at 1,200 calories a day and I’d say 60% of the time I have calories left over. I’ve lost inches though for example last Saturday (Easter weekend) my lower belly/hips were 38inch now they’re 36 inch. The top of my belly/waist was 32.5 inch now it’s 31.5 inch. My thighs were 27 inch now they’re 24 inch and round my bum was 45 inch now it’s 43.5 inch.
I just feel really frustrated I feel healthier I can feel the room in my jeans and clothes but the fact the scales aren’t budging is really getting to me x0 -
I’m measuring with scales/ portions sizes. Scanning packets I’m quite a repetitive eater on a weekly basis so most things are stored in my fitness pal app anyway. I make sure I don’t go over my calories fat carbs and protein. Sometimes I go a little over on protein but not too often x0

You are making progress - that is obvious by the changes in your measurements. The scale is just one data point for your progress. My first month I gained 2lbs. if that helps you to feel any better. Give it time. I lose some weeks, I go up some weeks, but when I look at the overall progress, it is losing. So much can affect the scale. Did you get extra sodium before you weighed in? Have you started a new workout program? These things can cause temporary water retention which equals not seeing a loss on the scale.0

Thanks. you missed some key questions though.
- are you using a food scale to measure all foods?
- Have you started or increased your exercise routine?
also, are you weighing weekly or daily? same clothes same time of day scale at exact same spot? The scale is at the EXACT same number for three weeks? exactly 168 for three weeks?0 -
That has made me feel better So Thankyou for that. I suffer from Ibs so I think that has a lot to answer for maybe. I always weigh first thing in the morning I’m thinking of starting to weigh myself monthly though rather than weekly and just keep measuring maybe fortnightly? I’m introducing exercise in May as starting new clubs and stuff so maybe that will help too. Thanks again for your advice and help xx0

What’s wrong with that? Weight is just a number
Inches are visibly seen and better imo3 -
I know your so right I’m just overthinking it I think. I’ve always seen results on the scales first I think that’s why x0
