Anyone do canicross, or run with their dog?

I want to get into canicross, but I have one that is leash reactive to other dogs so he would have to stay home. The other would do okay, though. She's a social butterfly.
The only thing is where I live, canicross is not super common and there aren't many races that allow dogs. So we typically stick to running on paved roads or sometimes on hiking trails.
We usually run in the early morning before it gets hot, but I've been wanting to get mine booties for running during the summer, because I am concerned about the pavement burning their paws.

I ran with my dog for a couple of years, but I now have three so we stick to walks. Running with your dog is great fun, even if it's not a race.0
