Hi I am a type two diabetic, morbidly obese with minimal exercise due to being too scared after pulmonary embolisms and minor heart attack. I am also on a low budget. Question: I am consistently going under my suggested calories due to limited fat, protein and carbs. availability, how do I overcome this?

Can you get a referral from your doctor to work with a dietitian? Sounds like you have a lot of health issues you're working with and getting some professional input would probably be a really good place to start.

I have a referral but it is only from a diabetic viewpoint and is only groupwork. I talked to a dietician over the phone but she didn’t give me any pointers ( nhs).

If you are limiting fat, protein, AND carbs, you are limiting everything. Do you have medical reasons to limit fat and protein? You say you are scared of embolisms and heart attack, are these fears based on something your doctor said and is that what you're basing your diet limitations on?

The group referral could still be useful. A diabetes specialist or RD should be able to give you the guidelines you need for the diabetes and know enough about general health to at least answer some questions in the group setting.

I'm not a health pro so I hesitate to suggest anything specific, but as a general internet stranger I wonder if the limits you are putting on protein and fat at least are necessary. I'm sorry you're struggling, hang in there :flowerforyou:
