I bought a serving of Just Crack an Egg from Ore Ida last night and was wondering what everyone thought about them?

I looked at them but said no.
For less money and similar effort you should be able to do the same or better on your own.

Meh... most of those 'quick and easy' breakfasts can be replicated for much cheaper. I've been doing something similar for years now using bags of frozen pepper and onion blend, frozen hash brown potatoes and an egg in a mug. Its about $5 at Walmart for all three of those things, throw some of each into a mug and heat it up. The bags last me a while too and they can be premade in disposable to go coffee ups (also just a couple bucks).4

They seem convenient, but I don't find them convenient enough for the cost. I can make the same thing homemade in just a few minutes. I could prep them in microwave safe bowls and then just add the egg and microwave.1

Good idea! You just put the hash browns in too? frozen? Instructions, please.0 -

Yep! I buy the bags of hash brown potatoes not the ones that are in a patty shape. Put those and the frozen veggies in a mug and microwave for 2 minutes. Then take it out, crack in the egg, season it, stir it up. Microwave it for 30 seconds, mix it up more, then microwave until the egg is cooked thoroughly (about 15-20 seconds). Depending on my mood I may add cheese or salsa too. If you're premaking it just keep the frozen potatoes and veggies in the container and add the egg when you cook it.1 -
I bought a few for my husband, who needed a couple of quick breakfasts. He said they were "okay", but not something he wanted again, especially for that price.
I could see them being useful in a situation where you had just a refrigerator and a microwave...like a hotel room.0 -
Thank you all for your feed back. I will look into making my own. I tried the one I bought. It was bland, but convenient.0
