I had my doctor decrease my dose in the hopes that I can lose some weight. Does anyone have any tips? It’s SO HARD to lose weight on seroquel.

Most of the time, weight gain associated with medications is a result of increased appetite/cravings or reduced activity while on them. People who gain weight while taking a medication typically weren't tracking their intake prior, so it's very easy for diet changes to to unnoticed. Have you been tracking your food and eating at a deficit? If not, then start there. Make sure you are weighing your food and using correct entries.10

I agree, we can't create energy out of nothing so either activity has decreased, calorie intake has increased, or both. There may also be some water weight gain with some medication, but it should not prevent overall weight loss. Tracking both calorie intake and steps to determine activity level can help get you on the right track.9 -
I've been on Seroquel for many years. At one point in my life I was a size 2, and had the energy and strength to workout 1.5 hours 6 days a week - every week. I was able to maintain for a very long time, even on high doses of Seroquel (900-1200mg day). Then "life" happened and I put on 80 pounds over the last 6 years. So here I am! Again.7

I started on Seroquel in 2015 one tablet at night, didn't make me gain weight but when I felt happier I ate more and gained weight. Went off it in 2016, again no difference to weight.
Now back on it, although half a tablet and no effect on weight gain or loss.1 -

Solving world hunger one Seroquel at a time. If it was truly fat gain from just a pill, it would seriously be a miracle. But unfortunately, it's water weight gain or change in acitivities. Seroquel is serious stuff and can cause cravings, fatigue, and constipation, which can all contribute to weight gain, but any fat gain is the result of behavioral changes stemming from the medicine, not from the medicine itself.18 -
I took Seroquel for many years. One of the side effects for me was intense cravings. I was taking a very high dose and was weaned off it under hospital supervision. Did I lose weight after stopping seroquel? No! Not until I changed my eating habits and my relationship with food.8

I gained 50 pounds while on Seroquel because it made me insanely hungry and I ate everything in sight.4

Look you may not believe it but I am speaking from my own personal experience with this drug - I did not change anything about my diet, exercise, activity etc and I put on 35kg. It was definitely due to the drug in my case as the weight gain stopped as soon as I switched to another medication.
You may not have been conscious of the changes to Calories In or Calories Out but there must have been some. If a pill could make you gain 77lb of fat with no change in the energy equation no-one in the world would die of hunger, as RelCanonical said. Say it out loud and you'll realise how impossible it sounds.

No I am absolutely certain there were no changes to calories in or calories out in my case. I don’t know why it is so hard for people to believe that a medication can have weight gain as a side effect, when this is reported in the medical literature on the drug.
Exactly. My husband was on seroquel for years and actually had no appetite at all. He would go days without eating and he still gained about 60 pounds. His doctor said it was wrecking his metabolism. Woo me all you want, but I know what happened to him.8 -

I believe you. I've experienced it, not with Seroquel, but for other health reasons. I actually didn't believe it when it was happening to me so I just ate less and less, carefully weighing and measuring and counting and logging absolutely every single thing, and exercised more and more. Eventually, after quite a few months, I had to admit that something I truly didn't believe could be possible was actually happening. I'm a little more open minded about a lot of things these days.
And yes, it is reported as a side effect for some people in the literature...weight gain without changes in calories or activity.

Nobody is saying the medication doesnt cause weight gain, just that it's impossible for the human body to create something out of nothing. Yes, many medications including seroquel can cause weight gain but it's more like a correlation with causation being a change in either CI or CO. Perception isn't always reality and many people are convinced that nothing has changed but these individuals were also typically not tracking prior to the weight gain.
If your husband was going days without eating then chances are his energy levels were also very low, causing him to move less, effecting his overall TDEE. As stated, if this medication were capable of doing what has been claimed, then seroquel would be given the answer to starvation. Unfortunately, it's not, but fortunately, knowing how it one gains weight on medication makes it easier to manage.7 -
