Hello all,
I'm Tiffany. After 20 years in the Navy, I took advantage of not having to be a certain size. Now it is completey out of control. I'm too short to be this size. I never though I would ever be this number and I am determined to get back to the weight in accordance to Navy standards, even though I'm retired. One question - which one will give me faster results, working out or taking in less calories. If I only wanted to do one or the other, which one would be more effective?

Diet ... you can't out exercise a bad diet. That said I find that getting some exercise daily helps with maki g good food choices.1

to lose weight you must eat at a calorie deficit over time. weather you exercise more to crate a deficit VS eat less depends on you and what works. But at some point you may need to be working out for hours a day to out exercise your daily calories.
Faster is not better. many who lose fast just regain as fast. ideally you learn new habits you will maintain because once weight loss phase is over, we cannot go BACK to how things were before or we'll gain it all back.
ETA: you don't need to skip meals or eat "healthy" to lose weight. just be in a calorie deficit over time.2
