How to handle eating differently on workout days

My biggest problem with counting calories is that I am listening to my hunger cues a lot less than I do when I eat intuitively. Of course, IE has not provided the desired results which is why I am doing this again. I am on week two and I still have a hard time eating more on workout days (in order to eat back some workout cals back) and eating less on the days I don't go to the gym.

It is more of a mental battle, honestly. I can't listen to my body but I also need to eat back at least some of my workout calories because I then risk under eating which will hurt me in the long run in regards to my metabolism.

Any feedback will be appreciated.

If I have the calories, I'll eat a different dinner, or have a snack.

It sounds like maybe doing weekly calories might work well for you.

I agree with the weekly calories. For me, I notice the day of I may not want to eat those calories, but generally I do want to on my rest day. So I try to balance it out throughout the week.

How would I go about doing that? Just keep track of the cals I don't eat during the week? Cause I would like to eat more on the weekends but I normally do most of my working out during the week.

Some questions for clarification - Are you making the distinction between appetite and hunger?

Intuitive eating take tremendous discipline and a series of habits to create a feedback loop to support weight management. This isn't something worth attempting without years of instilled discipline.

Undereating may hurt your progress, but won't do anything to impact your metabolism. Metabolism is nothing more than a culmination of cellular energy utilization multiplied over mass. There is no such thing as a fast or slow metabolism in any practical sense.

On the app, on your diary, at the bottom of the page is a Nutrition box. If you click that and then the calories button, you can change it to weekly view and net calories. It will tell you exactly how many calories over or under you are for the last seven days.

I go on a weekly basis. I do not eat back exercise calories. It helps me to eat the same amount everyday, but still have the desired deficit at the end of the week

Track on a weekly budget including exercise calories. Adjust eat back based on weight trend results over time.
