How many of you have switched from WW to MFP and have success stories?
Needing to switch it up.

yup - had a WW leader years ago tell me to stop lifting weights so I would lose muscle and the scale would therefore go down - I ran out the door!
WW is just a more complicated (and less precise) version of calorie counting. no need to pay someone else for what you can get here for free!5 -
I left WW online in 2016 when they brought out Freestyle. I had been a member for at least 20 years and was over 100 lbs overweight. I am now at Maintenance on MFP.6

I lost a bunch on WW some years ago then immediately gained it back when I left because it turns out I learned nothing.
Also the public weigh-ins felt like shaming whenever the scale went up and I never learned why that happens, only that it was bad, which pushed me into eating very little sometimes and was pretty rough on my mental health.5 -
I used WW in 2014 to get the first 25# off and then MFP to get the rest and go from there. After a month or two of "double tracking" I realized that I would do better with more protein and counting calories than counting "points." But I found it helpful to start with WW - looking at food intake with a different lens.3

Is it true that it’s no longer called Weight Watchers?

It appears so - guess I never caught that. Website is still the same.0

I started with the old WW point system and then migrated to MFP after a short time last year.
The important thing to understand while you are "switching it up" is that the mechanics of weight loss are the same regardless of the method you use. Years ago one of the more successful weight loss methods I used was WW and there was a simplicity to it that appealed to me more than calorie counting. Their new system would be less likely to work for me because I typically eat in volume and the zero point system would likely get me into trouble. That is not to say that it wouldn't be perfect for other people.
I now prefer calorie counting because it is a bottom line deal. If I am in a deficit I am losing weight and there is no mystery to it.5 -

I enjoyed WW several years ago. I was nearly 150 lbs overweight. I lost a good 25 lbs and started working out. The minute I started working out I stopped losing weight with that program. I quit and came to MFP. I did MFP for a while and lost a load of weight. Then I quit tracking anything and gained almost all the weight I had lost. So, 58 days ago I joined MFP again and got back on track. I'm happy with my 15.6 lb weight loss so far5

Yup, I started off on WW and lost 90 lbs and ended up on mfp by way of the Livestrong My Plate website. (Ended up gaining 30 lbs while using My Plate but losing 60 more on mfp.)2

Which for some people is a downside. Sacrificing hard earned dollars can provide some people with additional motivation. I don't believe there is a perfect system that will fit everyone. WW could still be a successful path for a lot of people. I am just not one of them.1
