I dont mind running, I find I can zone out pretty well. But my favorite is bootcamp and kickboxing. Anything high intensity that cause me to sweat!0

I appreciate this. Sure people can't run from painful biomechanical problems. But I get judgey and just think..people are afraid of the effort, afraid of appearing in public exercising, ashamed, blah, blah...and they can just use the excuse "bad knees"
(research shows old people who run tend to have healthier knees than old people who don't run)
But that is just me being a curmudgeon. You saying it is a "mental block" is beautiful, and I totally get that. I believe your good insight will get you far.
And see here inlies the problem, you don't actually know whether or not the people you're thinking about have bad knees. For most of my life I couldn't run, between back issues and knee issues. Both were resolved with surgeries and physical therapy, but you wouldn't know that if I hadn't told you. While both of my issues were congenital, there are also plenty of people who have "bad knees" from previous injuries or whose knees have been "trashed" from various sports in their youth leaving them unable to run.
While for some people it might be a mental block, for others it really isn't. I mean then there are also people who don't like running but are more than willing to push through lactic acid coursing through their body while say, rowing, cross country skiing, or cycling. They don't seem to be "afraid of appearing in public exercising, ashamed, blah, blah".
But then again, I'm just tired people thinking that running is the end all be all and having had to spend over half my life explaining that no, I can't run.5 -
I hate running also. I was so happy when the doc said “no running” after I had arthroscopic knee surgery that wasn’t running related. I love hiking, spinning, lifting, dancing, outdoor bike riding (on bike paths) and I’m going kayaking tomorrow. If you do it right, kayaking also works your abs quite significantly and even your legs to a lesser extent.2

As a “retired” runner now back on the saddle, I like running. Don’t know why I retired. God willing, hope to keep running until they take me out feet first wearing my running shoes.0

What are your favorite types of exercise that AREN’T running?
I’ve found walking to be the most convenient, but I also do love swimming. I think I may need to take lessons again though because I don’t feel very coordinated while doing laps 😂
Lol yes. Injurned my knee on a squat rack a while back. Lol running is something I definitely think is good though and need to get back into. Have done it at times haha.0 -

I hate running, but for me it's a necessary evil. It's as good of a mental workout as it is a physical one (in a sense). I prefer crossfit or lifting weights. Olympic lifting is fun too.1
