What to do when you’re sick 😢

What do you do when you’re not feeling well? I feel achy & cold or sinus issues. I know it’s important to keep eating well, but I hate not exercising! I’m on such a good track right now and I hate to backtrack. I’m in Northern MN, so it’s not real warm out yet. Any hints on how to get through this slump?

Common sense...rest. When you're sick, your body is already under duress and trying to heal itself. Exercise is just going to put your body under more duress and prolong the illness. Missing some exercise days because you're sick isn't material to the long term. The reality is that you're going to be sick...you're going to have injuries...you're going to have life happen and you're going to miss workouts along the way. Thinking you're never going to miss a workout is completely unrealistic and inflexible.7 -
Direct from healthline:
Is it safe to exercise with a cold?
It’s fine to try to get a workout in if you have a mild illness, such as the common cold. Exercise can temporarily relieve cold symptoms such as nasal congestion.
That said, you should always take into account how you’re feeling. If you’re feeling pretty bad, you should just take a day off. You also should not exercise if your symptoms include fever, congestion in your chest, or cough.
If you do choose to work out while sick, consider reducing the intensity or the length of your exercise. As always, you should remember to stay hydrated while working out.2 -
as long as you stay in a calorie deficit you will keep loosing weight. at worse you can increase to maintenance calories to stay where you are (not "backtrack").
take care of yourself is really #1. rest and give yourself a break.1
