Inspiration!

Today is day 10 of my decision to really change my eating habits--for good this time! I was drinking four soft drinks a day, eating ice cream practically everyday, and junk food all day long. Part of me would think to myself "I'm just big and I'll always be big so I'm just gonna eat because I'm happy!" But was I really happy? After a family trip to Rockport and seeing pictures, I decided I needed to change. On top of the fact that it was 105 degrees most of the days while we were at the Texas coast for five days and I drank MAYBE one bottle of water, and by Sunday night, my urine was the color of rust. We sat around the dinner table that Sunday night, me, my two sisters-in-law and my mother-in-law. We discussed different methods of weight loss, what has worked, what hasn't worked. My brother-in-law, who is younger than me and has had two open heart surgeries comes around the corner and says "all you have to do is drink lots of water and walk." I thought about it for a minute and thought how hard could that be?

So Monday, August 5th was day one. Weighing in at 243 lbs. The heaviest I have ever been. I'm proud to say that as of Sunday, August 11th, I'm down 6 lbs!! I've made some significant changes in my eating habits. First, I've cut out all sodas and even teas. I drink only water. Secondly, I cut out all sweets and junk food. I did buy some sugar free fudgesicles for 80 calories each. They definitely curve my craving for sweets. For the most part though I eat lots of fruit. Thirdly, I have committed to not eating any later than 7:30. We were eating as late as sometimes 9:00 each night. And not eating healthy on top of that. Fourth, I walk everyday after dinner. I started out just walking 15 minutes per day. On Saturday I walked 30 minutes and continued 30 minutes ever since. And lastly, I log everything I eat in My Fitness Pal and try to stay between 1200-1500 calories per day.

It all seems to be working, and I seem to be on the right track because results are showing. I'm looking forward to weighing in on Sunday! Will keep you posted!
