I'm 42 and like texting for short topics and making plans. I'm more likely to chat via social media with my friends of similar age. Most of my texts are to my husband, parents, stepsister, etc. I almost NEVER spoke to my stepmom or stepsister on the phone in 20+ years of being part of the family but now we text e/o a few times per week. In some situations it's cool. I DO NOT like when friends want an ongoing text chain about serious topics and chit chat. For that I'd rather instant message in real time from a computer or talk in person. I've never loved talking on the phone and barely do so.

    I'm 44 going on 45

I text if the topic is simple and doesn't warrant a full blown conversation...like, "Hey! does next Saturday work to come over for a pool party?"

I get annoyed when someone tries to have a full blown conversation and we're going back and forth with a million texts...at that point, just call me.

34 and text. If I get a call outside of my family I will assume there is some sort of dire emergency

I’m 36 and not a huge fan of text. It is cool as a supplement to regular phone convo but to be the sole method of communication is lame to me.

I'm 57 and text but prefer to talk to my closest people unless they cannot take a call. I think the art of conversation will one day be lost and why send 50 texts when I can say what I want to say in a short call.

    50. Hated texting but now prefer it. There are just some things that need to be handled over the phone. Agree with @lorri71 , why not talk to your peoples...

54 I like to receive text notifications and text friends or family, but I have never liked speaking on the phone. Weirdly enough I do spend time on Discord with my son and friends, but its not like having a conversation.
