7 Minute Workout

I was listening to Doctor Radio this morning on my long commute to work and they were talking about the 7 minute workout. It's a high intensity 7 minutes – it has all the exercises we know that work because they hurt like heck and we avoid them at all costs. Like crunches, pushups, wall sits, jumping jacks, and so on. My problem is that I would have to get up at 5 to do my beloved JM 30 day shred and just cannot bring myself to get up that early and by the time I spend an hour and a half in traffic it is already late and don’t fell like getting all energized and sweaty when I’ll be going to be in 2 hours.
So I thought I would pose the question to the members of the myfitnesspall.com community. . . has anybody heard of this and tried it? I need something to jump start my energy level as I am stuck in rut! I’m too tired to workout but I’m tired because I don’t workout!!!! A viscous cycle I tell you . . . .I get blood work on Monday so that will help kick me in the you-know-what too!!!
Let me know your thoughts! I would appreciate any insight! The website is www.7-min.com if you want to check it out before you post a reply (if you haven't heard of it)! Yes they have an app for Android and iPhone!

A 7 minute work out is better then no workout, but you're not going to see a lot improvement in your fitness or overall health. Plus your weight loss will probably be much slower. Exercise requires discipline. No one wants to to get up early to work out. (well, some people do.) But you have to do it anyway. Just get it over with and enjoy the rest of your day with a sense of accomplishment!0

This workout is all over the place http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/05/09/the-scientific-7-minute-workout/?_r=0 and now has a bunch of videos and apps to help time it... BTW the people behind the study mention that it should be done two or three times in a row...0

I can never quite figure out why some workouts and diets have to have random numbers assigned to them. What makes 7 minutes the magic number? I guess it is catchy and can get people to remember the name later when they hear it on the radio.
Anyway, the exercises are obviously solid but I'm not sure that 30 seconds of each would *really* replace hours of running like they want to say in this article: http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/05/09/the-scientific-7-minute-workout/?_r=0
I'd use it as a full body warm-up for cardio, or maybe do it multiple times throughout the day if you don't have a block of time to set aside for one workout. That is just my initial thoughts though. It would be interesting for someone with a hrm to go through this and report the calorie burn.0 -
So funny you mention this now because my co-worker has been raving about this for a couple of months and she just printed out the workout for all of us yesterday. Her and her husband do it every morning and really say they feel/see a difference. I plan on starting up, especially when it gets cold out. The key is consistancy!0

I like using this for a warmup or an extension if I have energy after a cardio session. There's nothing magical about it; it burns calories and it's not horribly repetitive.0
