Hey! We have a group called "Disabled MFP-ers With Attitude" so that those of us working to be healthier, but dealing with the additional obstacle of a disability, have a place to talk/share/vent/brainstorm. Not limited to those who use chairs or mobility aids, but a generally positive place. If you'd like to join, use the search function and come hit us up, yeah?

(Clearly back on a laptop where I can get back to the "group" function, and hoping to garner some attention, as it's a bit of a different path for us).

Thanks, y'all!

Best of success @cmm7303 . I know advanced long term Ankylosing Spondylitis changed the ballgame for me but I am clawing my way back to health. When I got to where I could walk 1/4 of mile without stopping to rest was a major milestone to me. I just let negative remarks about just walking a 1/4 mile a day did little for my health pass. It was everything for my physical and mental health.

Secondary injuries due to the primary issue are real concerns that I have to keep thinking about to stay safe.

    Keep up your great effort.

Hi. I've not used community chat before so hope I'm doing this right!
I'm suffering from spondyliosthesis and on top of that had a serious accident 3 years ago that means I use crutches and a wheelchair on a daily basis.
Problem is now I have a large tumour (benign) but is causing damage and low iron that they won t operate on until I'm under 39bmi (currently 43). So I'm in a lot of daily pain, normally asleep in the afternoon 😂! So losing the weight is difficult and drs are very unsympathetic and just tell me to lose weight!!!! Been doing mfp now for 2 months and lost 14lbs but then lost momentum. Trying to start again today so would be great to chat to people who have the same struggle as me as feeling a bit isolated at mo!!!

Thanks. I'm walking more, but it's an uphill battle (like you mentioned), through both the AS and the ensuing medications and therapies (I just started methotrexate a little over a month ago, and it has made me both exhausted and bald) but slow and steady and all that, right?

DO feel free to come join the group if you'd like.

My mom is in the same oat as you: needs knee replacements after an old injury, no surgery until she loses weight, but hard to lose when she can't walk, so the cycle stays moving. As to slow progress, I'm with you (a lot of soup, greens, bacon, kimchi...trying to stay "not hungry" and also not let the waves of nausea hit too hard.
