I haven’t been doing weights in a month. On Monday I started the gym. It’s not my first time in the gym. Before joining the gym I was active in sports. Anyways, Monday was upper body day. I did the chest press machine and the shoulder press machine. I kinda went heavy on them. I shouldn’t have. Maybe my form wasn’t right. Idk... Yesterday I woke up having sore upper chest and shoulders but it’s my right side that hurt the most. Left side is bit sore. This morning the pain wasn’t there. I went to the gym and today was lower body day. After I came home, my right side of the shoulder and upper chest hurt. Is this like normal??? Ugh idk what to do. I’m gonna wait and see for a week. If it’s not better, I’m going to see the doctor.

It's normal to be sore for some days after overdoing it at the gym, yes. What does the soreness feel like? Is it a muscular sort of pain or an ache in the joint? Does it feel bruised if you poke it?0

It’s more of an ache. When I try to do shoulder circles it hurts. When I try to put that arm up, it hurts. 😣0 -

Oops. That does sound like you've damaged something, rather than normal muscle overuse. I'd be side-eyeing your rotator cuff, but I say that purely from personal experience rather than any kind of medical knowledge. I think your plan to see a doctor is wise; the anatomy of the shoulder joint makes it surprisingly easy to turn an acute injury into a chronic one.1 -
