Entering walking steps

So I've given up trying yo keep my fitbit and mfp properly synced! 😒
So I'm just entering in my daily steps manually. I'd just like second opinions to make sure I'm not overestimating.

So today I logged eg 17000 steps. (it was a busy day! Plus 2 big dog walks)
I can't log the steps on mfp so I logged it as the 147 minutes on a moderate 12.5km per hour mfp selection.
... When I cycled to and from work, I tucked my fitbit into my trouser leg. Hope that's not cheating? But only 12 mins there and 12 back at a brisk pace. (think it logs about 1k steps each way).
Thanks.

You are likely overestimating if you are taking credit for all your steps, because some of them are assumed to be part of your daily activity level, based on where you set it. MFP syncs out any FB steps assumed in the activity level.

I would log my walks with the dog by time and pace (i.e. walk 54 minutes at 5 kms per hour) and your bike rides as 24 minutes biking. Skip the steps that are part of your everyday life - work, shopping, housework, etc.

I'm not sure about that lortpb because when my fitbit was syncing OK it was giving me way more calories than I'm getting just by entering in total minutes per day.
I've disconnected and reconnected and other things like a zillion times but I'll reread the post to see if I've missed anything.
I'm on a plan where I set my calories to 1700 per day and very little activity burned during the day, but must get my 10k steps in.

If you have an iPhone, Use the app from under armour called ‘Record’. You can track your steps on specific walks... general non stop walking & dog walking. It will track your pace and track your route on a map so you can see where in your city you’ve walked! (Set your privacy though!) It syncs with mfp. Is use it twice daily once for my own walk and second time with my dog. I do not track everyday shopping or walking around the house type of walking. Good luck
