Water bottle question, probably dumb.

Starting hydrated is important. Luckily I've never had problems with that, I have a monster thirst. I enjoy most drinks more if there's ice in them.

I bought a few vacuum insulated water bottles. They're fantastic, I can leave icy Nuun water in my car while I hike or ride, and there's still ice when I get back. Which is usually when I'm hot and thirsty.

All of these were advertised as culinary grade stainless, 18/8. A magnet sticks to all of them. I went to the store and tested some Hydro Flasks, the crazy expensive ones; a magnet will stick to some but not others.

Bottom line: should I be concerned? These came from Amazon, so it's a pain to return them.

Probably nothing to worry about. Some stainless steels are magnetic - some are not.

Thanks for that article. There's really a lot more involved than I knew!

It does confirm that 18/8 stainless steel is nonmagnetic. All of these said 18/8 on the label. But so does the $50 one at Whole Foods, and the magnet stuck to it too.
