How should I record my weight?

I am set to lose 0.5 lbs a week. I have lost about 6 lbs in 8 weeks.
But! the app tells me to record like once a week, and sometimes my weight can be as much as 3lbs higher on that weigh-in as the one from before.
Should I only record when the numbers go down? Highest of 3 days in a row?

It is for you to decide when you use the "Check-In" feature to record your weight on this site.
Some choose daily, some weekly, some monthly. Some refuse altogether, yet still maintain awareness of their progress by measuring, taking photographs, and remembering the fit of their clothes.1 -
You can record whenever you want. There will be blips here and there and maybe some stalls, but progress is progress as long as the trend is going down.3
