Hello! I’m studying abroad in Italy for 6 weeks! I’ve made so much progress the past year with healthy living. I’ve lost so much weight and I’m so scared for this trip. I’ve cut out so many bad foods and carbs and Italy is full of carbs like pasta pizza gelato oh my! Help how do I maintain my progress without feeling bad about myself. I am scared to miss out and restrict myself but I’m terrified of gaining all the weight back. Thanks so much!

My advice would be to enjoy those foods in moderation, you're in Italy after all! But a huge life saver for me is the markets. They're a great way to get out and experience the culture and also get a ton of fresh food for cheap! Enjoy your time out here!

You will be surprised to find that they likely have all of the foods you have been eating for the last year readily available in Italy as well. So you do not have to sacrifice your diet while there.

However there is no such thing as "bad" food, so I hope you enjoy pizza and pasta and gelato on occasion. I eat all 3 and have lost over 30 pounds.

Hi! I just came back from Italy. Where in Italy are you going to? One thing that is great about Italy is the fish and seafood!!

I agree with everyone -- focus on all the healthy, fresh foods you'll be able to eat there, from fish and seafood to all the beautiful produce. Really focus on the fundamentals of the Mediterranean diet and lifestyle and you'll be fine and will still be able to indulge in pizza and gelato.

When I was in Italy for a week I honestly lost weight because we walked EVERYWHERE. LOL I seriously averaged 25K-30K steps a day. It was ridiculous! But it allowed me to eat anything I wanted. If you focus on eating fresh and all the walking, you should be just fine!
