starting again for the millionth time

Been trying to stick to 1200 calories a day which has been hard and even though not gone over too much I am heavier than when I started last time. Going to be a long slow road but reducing to 1050 calories - going on holiday in 7 weeks and really would like a pound a week off.

You may want to reconsider your approach, it seems like you are cutting your calorie goal super low and can't stick to it. It is a common mistake, but setting a slower plan you can stick with will probably get you better results long term. This link has some great info about goal setting:
