Baking Dilhemmas

I absolutely love baking, so as I'm trying to lose weight I'm also trying to wean myself off of the deadly sweets. What ingredients can you recommend as healthy replacements for common items in baked goods, and what are your favorite filling ingredients/recipes? I'd really like to explore more filling recipes, so I'll be bless inclined to give in to the sweet tooth.

    I love to bake, too. However, my best substitute is to have my daughters do it lol! If I bake, I kill my diet.

    For now I'll just keep this substitution list handy, and try to strictly limit my sweets baking.

    We are kindred spirits when it comes to baking! Lol! However, a few months ago I started making pretty much EVERYTHING from scratch. I now make my own bread, pasta, tortillas, sauces, etc. For someone that really never liked to cook, yet always LOVED to bake, my world has now opened up and I love to try new things in the kitchen! The best part? I'm trying new healthy recipes and discovering that I actually prefer the taste of my own food over ANY restaurant out there! Lol! I don't necessarily follow a recipe every time, either. Sometimes I just throw stuff together and the results are AMAZING! Don't be afraid to experiment in the kitchen. :) Oh, and allrecipes.com is pretty good, or if you want the BEST recipes out there, check out Cook's Illustrated. (Both the magazine and website require subscriptions, though.) Good luck! :)
  • Whey protein! It takes some experimentation, but there are tons of recipes out there for muffins, pancakes, cake...
