Anyone else out there dairy free?

I am either ridiculously lactose intolerant or allergic to dairy. I've toyed with yogurts, hard cheeses, lactose free stuff forever and have finally gone completely dairy free.
I have never felt better!! I've recently started drinking almond milk. YUM! :drinker:
Sometimes its really hard. Seeing all the ice cream places when its 90+ degrees out...
...Reading all the health blogs that tell you weight loss is easy with cottage cheese and yogurt.
Is there anywhere else out there who lives dairy free? How are you doing with weight loss???

I eatdairy now, but my daughter had a milk protein allergy, so I went dairy free while I was nursing. It was hard at first, but I got used to it! I love almond milk and soy milk! I couldn't find any reasonable substitute for cheese, but after a while I didn't even miss it! I also found out there is dairy, especially casein, in many things that I wouldn't have guessed, like McDonalds French Fries!
Good luck in your dairy free journey! I0 -
Well I could never do ice cream or milk, but until recently I was OKAY with yogurt and cottage cheese - its gotten so bad lately. I'm not even sure why it would get worse like it has.
I once tried lactose free ice-cream. It was the sickest I have ever been! Currently only feta cheese doesn't send me doubled-over in stomach cramps and issues. Even a little ranch dressing gets me upset.
I am actually reading about casein right now. Thanks!0 -
It could be the protein in the milk then! Feta cheese is from goat's milk(or used to be, it may not always be now) so the protein in Feta is similar, but may be slightly different. My husband has what we call a lactose intolerance too, though with him it seems to be the milk fat, more than actual lactose. He's okay with fat free sour cream, for example, but the regular stuff is a definite no-go!0
