transfer of calories burned from polar to myfitnesspal

Does anyone understand why my exercise calories recorded in Polar consistently transfer over to Myfitnesspal at a lower level? Are they eliminating some of the calories burned for some reason or are they using time spent on activities rather than the actual calories from Polar?
