Anyone eat much more than normal due to the fact that they are dehydrated?

Also someone mentioned eating larger portions (regardless if low cal items like vegetables or fluids) can stretch out the stomach causing you to eat larger portions there after?

Any thoughts on these two?

Sometimes people will eat when they are dehydrated because they are misreading the signals their body is giving them. So it's important to listen to your body at the beginning of the process of changing eating habits so you can figure out the difference. If it's between meals and I feel hungry but I've had an ample amount of calories during the day already (as long as it was nutritious food that I was eating and not crap) I will drink a bottle of water or something and wait a bit before I eat. But some days I'm just hungrier than others and you have to listen to that as well, as long as you can tell the difference.

I can't say for sure, because I haven't officially seen any studies etc on the second, but I believe stomach stretching has nothing to do with how much your body wants to eat (calories) hunger is a result of hormonal signals your body sends your brain. However, if you've altered your stomach structure (bariatric surgery, bands etc) it will affect how much you can eat. Anecdotally, when I've been sick for a couple days without eating much, I definitely don't get as hungry, but I think that's a result of body healing and hormonal reactions. I imagine it works the other way as well.

Not sure if that helps, but there ya go.

About the stretched stomach part, I've often heard Dr. Now say during initial bariatric surgery (usually vsg) that his patients had unusually large stretched out stomachs from the massive overeating and binging they did. So I'm curious as to whether there is actually any truth to it.
