Tracking output: by exercise kcal burn or by a TDEE total each day?

Hi MFPers
Just a thought - do you track your fitness by tallying individual caloric burn on each exercise or simply rack up the TDEE as recorded by your fitness tracker every 24hr period? I ask because my method of losing fat isn't 'food goal' orientated as the MFP user interface seems to be, but rather preferring to work on keeping a consistency in my caloric deficit. If I try to track via TDEE the arbitrary goal you have to set for food intake seems to skew the data.
MFP tends to work on Goal - Food + Exercise = remaining (deficit/surplus)
whereas for fatloss I prefer to work on a simpler method of:
Food - TDEE = deficit
Tips on how to perhaps set up my MFP to reflect my easier method (or whether to just ditch MFP altogether and go back to manual tracking keeping a spreadsheet) welcomed.
TIA.

If your device is synced with MFP correctly it does the calculation for you.
Or, you can set your own calorie goal under Settings and then input the data manually.0 -
The calculation would actually be TDEE - food = deficit 😎0
