The are tons of people here who aren't low-carb.
I lost and ran a couple bulk/cut cycles and am now maintaining by manipulating calories alone. No issues.
Protein is the only thing I had to work on making sure I hit my target.16 -
i'm doing IF and Calorie def i was just interested in the results some might of had already.2

I don't do low carb. I've lost 20+ lbs with cardio (mostly walking) and 300-400/day calorie deficit.. which a lot of people here will tell you is impossible15
-
I am now in maintenance but I never went low carb. I simply lost weight by eating at a deficit but choosing foods I enjoyed and to stick with long term, that also helped the most with satiety. Protein and high fibre foods help keep me fuller for longer than foods that are high in fat.11

I do a moderate carb diet but all of my weight loss is driven by a calorie deficit.10
-
it’s just hard and pointless to make « i don’t do low carb » posts
i don’t watch carbs, just calories. lost 53lbs.15 -
the only reason i'm careful with carbs is because, to me, they are calorie expensive. i can eat 5 oz chicken for the same amount of calories as a half cup of rice sometimes, so i go for the quantity. but for weight loss...strictly cico for me. and i'm down 59 lbs.12

Over 80 pounds lost on pure calorie deficit 🙂19

Almost 30 pounds lost not caring about carbs at all.11

I've lost 25kg (55 pounds) since starting in early January and am not doing low carb. I'm just tracking by calories - making sure I have a minimum of protein, veg every day etc but once I've ticked off that minimum, I let myself eat whatever I want so long as I'm within my calorie budget (as boosted by exercise). I think the kicker for me was when I realised that all the baked goods I liked didn't really have a low calorie flour substitute so I've just gone for using normal flour and making sure I factor the calorie count into my budget. As someone else has pointed out above, the only pickle with carbs is that they're expensive calorie-wise, but I just factor it in and either offset with exercise or eat less etc.10

I am doing IF and watching my calories, I'm down 86 pounds8

I've never been low carb.
I manage my weight by watching my calories.8 -
At maintenance after losing 50 pounds, eating all the carbs.9

Giggling at the woo pusher who, either doesn't know its proper use or has their knickers in a knot because people have had success with weight loss without going low carb. I'm going with the latter option because I find that one more comical!30

I was wondering about that. If people want to cut carbs then I support that, but everyone's different and different things work for different people. I've chosen not to reduce or eliminate carbs because I enjoy them 😁7 -
I eat moderately low carb, but because I’m diabetic, not because I’m doing keto. 125 lbs down and over a year in maintenance without ever dropping below 150g net per day.8
-
Keto has me at my lowest adult weight. It works for me, I was a 34 waist and I'm now heading for 30" omg never since i was 16 have i been that.10

I lost 33 pounds in just a calorie deficet. I think I was eating somewhere around 200-250g of carbs a day. They can't be garbage carbs, but I'm sure you know that. I made sure my plates were about 40% protein, 40% fibrous veggies, and 20% starchy carbs.9

Have never done low carb. .
Lost to goal weight 5 years ago and maintained ever since.
Just keeping to aproximate calorie allowance3 -

Actually from a weight loss point of view they CAN be 'garbage carbs' , whatever foods you think they are.
( and indeed plenty of mine were undoubtedly things you would consider such)

I watched calories (and protein) while losing weight but had/have a pretty high carb diet.
As a long distance cyclist I'm part of a demographic that tend to be slim, fit and eat a high volume of carbs.
My highest carb (and exceptional) day during my weight loss period was 650g, excellent fuel for exercise.
Guess that is going to attract the woo'er who seems to object to the fact that people can and do lose weight without going low carb. Seems the cult of low carb can't tolerate people who make different dietary choices to them and are successful which is rather sad. You could choose to be happy for others and respect their choices instead.21 -
I'm not low carb.. I eat 100-150 a day. I'm mainly watching everything I put into my body because I have health issues I want to improve. I'm 12lbs down in a month.3
-
Moderation of all foods, including carbs. Lost 1/2 my body weight.
To the Keto wooer, good luck with low carb the rest of your life. Should be fun 😉17 -
Bring on the woo!
I actually eat high carb low fat on purpose. Since eating this way, my fasting blood sugar has decreased, my cholesterol has dropped from 220s to 132, my energy is so much better, and I don't overeat. Fat is so much more calorie dense. I can easily go over my calories and I really struggle with hunger when I eat regular or high fat but when I am low fat, I have multiple days when I don't eat all of my calories because I am full. (Not an extreme. I have 40+ pounds to lose but I am only set to 0.5 pounds a week. When I am low fat, I actually lose closer to 0.8.)11 -
I lost about 50 pounds in under a year, targeting minimums for protein, fat, and veggie/fruit servings, but ignoring carbs, while old-ish (59-60), menopausal, and hypothyroid. Looking back, I ate around 150g carbs +/- most days.
In year 3 of maintenance, age 63, BMI 22, I eat around 200g carbs most days.
Low carb is great for some people; I'm not one of them.10 -
Definitely did not do low carb. When I started this time I made a decision that it was going to be a permanent lifestyle change and that I would only adopt strategies I could maintain forever. Since I LOVE fruits, low carb was not an option.
I met goal (50 pound loss) in 6 months just counting calories and exercising. The only dramatic change (besides counting calories) was to increase veggies significantly and to pretty much eliminate processed food.
By the way, I am 74, so not in a prime age for easy weight loss.

I just do CI/CO. I don't pay much attention to my macros except for protein.8

sijomial made the post I was about to make. Also a long-distance cyclist, also love the carbs, and also am losing weight and tracking nothing but calories.8
