I have been a yo-yo dieter for 15 years, always losing and then regaining the same 25 pounds. Why is this time different?

In the past, I have lost 25 pounds in under 3 months. On some level I knew that I was eating too little, but my thought process was that I would work really hard to get to my goal weight and then I could ease up a little and start eating more. I succeeded, but it was really difficult. Plus, I felt hungry most of the time, and I always regained the weight, usually within a year.

THIS time is different because:

1. I am not cutting out anything I don't plan to cut out forever. I love food, so this pretty much means I am not cutting out anything. I am STILL eating chocolate, ice cream, pizza, and bread.
2. I am not setting a time limit, and I am not focusing on reaching my goal weight for a certain event. In the process of this weightloss journey, I am trying to love my body during EVERY stage and be grateful for the things it can do. Some days are better than others.
3. I've realized the negative effects that my internal thoughts can have on my self esteem, and I am training myself to BE POSITIVE as much as possible.
4. I am losing no more than .5 to 1 pound each week. This has been the biggest change for me, and in my opinion the BEST one! I am rarely hungry, I feel capable, and I am generally happier.
5. I am lifting weights. Best decision ever!
6. I am taking advantage of the Community section in MFP. The friends I have made on here are hands-down the kindest, most supportive people. It helps to have somewhere to go when life knocks you down for a day. Reading other people's success stories, sharing recipe ideas, and learning new exercise techniques really helps to remind me why I am doing this and prevents me from stress eating.

I've only been doing this for 100 days. I have a long way to go, and I would really enjoy meeting more friends for mutual support. Fair warning, some weeks I am more supportive/vocal than others, but I will always be here logging in daily!
