Has anyone tried this new Eat Clean way of Eating? I know its not really a diet but a lifestyle change, which I am very excited about. I'm curious if it works cause I really want to try it. it seems like I am doing a lot of it already, like eat 5-6 times a days, eating a lot of protein with complex carbs, no refined white flour or sugar, lean meats etc.

I was wondering if anyone here has tried it and what they think of it.

Well, I have a subscription to Oxygen Magazine, which is the primer women's fitness magazine, (I LOVE IT, has great recipes, exercises, workouts and advice with no celebrity gossip). Anyways, through out the mag they take about eating clean, cutting out all the proceed foods and refined grains and sugar and eating lots of fruits, veggies and lean proteins with complex carbs. The author of the book the Eat-Clean Diet, Tosca Reno, is also a regular columnist for the magazine.

I'm sure everyone has read the draw backs to counting calories (such as you can never be 100% accurate about the calories entering or leaving your body or that it doesn't truly teach healthy eating habits) I would love to find a way in which I don't have to count calories but still be lean, fit and an ideal body weight.

I don't mind making healthy lifestyle changes if its going to increase my heath and make me look and feel good and live a longer healthier life.

Ah I have done something like this but the Daniel fast. Only veggies, fruit, nuts, seeds and pure water. Nothing could be processed but you can never be 100% unless you grow it yourself, I don't even trust the "organics" but I bought them anyway... On this I felt great, and lost a lot of weight, but much too fast and I gained it all back hahaha but I didn't eat enough cause I was sick of eating the same things (cause I dont like many different types of fruit or veggies) So I almost stopped eating. But it was great. I hope that helps somewhat... Now I eat all fresh food except a few canned foods and chicken and fish. Once in a while I will eat beef, and so far so good.

eating clean make sense. I would think it would be better to find organic clean foods then having to count calories for every little thing.

Sometimes I wish I had my own personal chef. Any single chef's out there?

I think that is a great way to eat. I'm not sure everyone will lose weight on that diet - most will. I can eat a lot of whole wheat pasta  . It's also hard to eat that way all the time. Most days that's how I eat. Some days, I have to have chocolate cake. I tried the "You on a diet" diet - which is very similar - no refined grains or sugar, etc - didn't lose anything for 2 months. I was someone that needed to control my portion sizes as well.

Believe me, I'm not trying to discourage you. I think it's a great way to start. Learn what to eat first, then learn how much of it to eat later. Many people that are not used to eating whole grains, lots of veggies, etc. will have a hard time overeating.

Portion control is a big aspect of it, as is advanced planning. She recommends that you carry a cooler with you at all times. I do this sometimes, but it's not practical all the time. (The one time I miss my car.)

Personally, all the supplement ads in Oxygen get on my nerves, and big time. If clean eating and exercise are where it's at. . .why do the publishers choose to make some money off of "maximum burn" frankenfoods and the like? The other magazine by the same publisher called "Clean Eating" is much nicer in that regard. A copy of that will give you a month of recipes, shopping lists and menus. Pretty cool, I think.

Well of course portion size is a big factor, portion size and counting calories is essential the same thing.I believe that everyone should count calories at least for a big to get and understanding of portion sizes, then after that, for most people portions size become second nature.

The Core Diet from Weight Watchers is the same diet. That is how I lost over 70 lbs! So I know it works!

I eat very little processed food, no refined sugar, white flour, white rice. Mostly protien, veggies, fruit, fat free dairy, and whole grains (for only one meal a day).

I personally think it is a great way to eat.

I like it, it kick started my WL when I was stalled at the same weight for 2 months. The Eat Clean diet book is a great source also. After reading the book I did stop eating meat as frequently as I used to, but the book doesn't really say to do that, it was my choice.
