Hello! I know potatoes have gotten a bad rap due to the low carb fads. I was wondering if eating plain baked potatoes is good for weight loss? They are only 93 calories per 100g of plain potatoes. I have always found them really filling and nice. Has anyone had success with potatoes?

If they keep you happy and full they are GREAT for weight loss. I would not have success because they don't keep me full for long enough but my results do not matter. It only matters what works for you.

    Enjoy!

I lost 60 pounds and have maintained the loss for over 2 years eating potatoes probably 2-3 times a week in one form or another. I also have a handful of Oreos, or chocolate, or ice cream pretty much every night :)

Potatoes are a great, nutritious, and filling food but make sure you eat the peels also. Both parts have a lot of nutrients but there are some in the skin you don't get in the flesh like potassium, iron, and niacin plus 2/3 of the fiber in a potato is in the skin.

On days I want potatoes, I log them then work around that choice. :)

I haven’t cut out potatoes or other starches and have had good success so far with my weight loss - 84lbs and counting. I tend to feel better overall when my meals are balanced so I still eat all that good stuff.

I dont eat potatoes as for me they just trigger me eating more food. The best potato is a jacket potato smothered in butter and cheddar and chopped spring onion. Lovely. Needs to be as big as a head too.

I like to slice them thin and bake them with a bit of salt or seasoning. Chippies! I like to do this with sweet potatoes too. I dont oil the potatoes I just spray the pan so they dont stick and flip them over halfway through cooking. I dont eat them every day. I guess you could say that they are on a rotation. I go a month without them then ill be at the store and buy a couple. Im not purposefully adding them in or keeping them out of my meal plan.
